I moved to California in 1978. John and his wife Phyllis became my family. They welcomed me and whomever I brought over, a successive series of girlfriends, my future wife, Donna and of course, our children. Their home became our place of warmth and love through successive crises, celebrations and holidays. This blog celebrates and honors my love for them and an investigation of art from a very subjective point of view.

Diana Majumadar
A really wonderful young (about 30 years old) artist is exhibiting at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts now till September 5, 2012. I heard the story that when she had her baby she would hang out at parks with him and decided to draw birds, since she was there already. She credits her father as her art teacher when she was a young person in Estonia. All of these pieces are beautiful and she is selling many because the prices are so reasonable. Please check out her website to see more.

Nevertheless I don't think that anything on her website surpasses the beauty of these pieces.
I will load about a dozen more within the next week. I would love to hear your comments.

Scratch Board to a High Art
A lot of activity at the Sebastopol Art Center. The biggest news is a move from the building on Depot Street to a long term lease at the Vet Center. It means more space, more classes and bigger names at the venue. Right now there is a show of portraits. Many nice pieces, but I will highlight them soon.
I would light to feature the scratch boards of Diana Lee. They are absolutely beautiful. She had the small gallery a couple of months ago. Her skill at rendering realism and her touch with lighting is nothing short of amazing. She has two pieces in the portrait show. It will give you some idea of her skill.
